10 Things That You May Not Know About Me

Contrary to the fact that it may seem like I post my life in social media for the world to see, I actually prefer to keep most things to myself. Maybe it is a protection mechanism? So today I thought it would be fun to list 10 things that you may or may not know about me.

1. If you ask me what my favorite color is, I can't decide. However if you look in my closet, it's probably safe to say it is purple. :)

2. While I do live in a big city now, I actually grew up in a very small town. The first 10 years of my life I lived on a dirt road. To this day, there is still only one traffic light in the middle of town, my dad knows EVERYONE (much to my dismay when I was trying to get away with things as a kid!), and I cherish my childhood memories of bonfires, riding atvs as a family and small town high school football games.

3. You never have to wonder what I'm thinking...because I will tell you! LOL! This is both a blessing and a curse. It has gotten me into trouble a time or two. :P

4. I didn't always know that I would want a family, until I met my husband. But once I knew that I wanted kids, I knew that I would be a mom of boys. Don't ask me why. Maybe it was just luck, but I'm not the least bit surprised to be a boy-mom. I LOVE it!

5. I love to laugh and I love even more to make others laugh. I'm trying to get better about showing the 'real' silly, awkward, dorky, crazy self that I actually am in the online world so that hopefully I can make you laugh too! :)

6. I have always been insecure about how I look/my size. I can vividly remember a time when I was probably 10 years old and I was talking my cousin about how I had lost a couple of pounds and what I was eating (or more like not eating). I still struggle with my insecurities but I'm learning how to appreciate my body and what it can do!

7. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Some call that emotional or too sensitive. I like to think I have  big heart. ;)

8. It drives me crazy when I can hear someone chewing or swallowing. I hate that I can't just ignore it! We have to have some sort of background noise at dinner time or conversation going to distract me. I'm weird. I know.

9. I had to have major back surgery at 32 years old. Maybe it was the many years of gymnastics or holding girls over my head in cheerleading or genetics, but it was a really traumatic experience. However, I will forever be grateful for the life experience it has given me. I have learned that I am stronger than I realized and my journey led me to gain some amazing friends!

10.  When I was 12 years old, I ran away from home in the middle of the night for a BOY (insert eye roll - Why are teenage girls so dumb?!). It is something I think about often, especially now as a parent myself. I can't imagine the feeling of walking into your child's room and having them not be there. I have apologized to my parents and family a bazillion times about this but I still haven't forgiven myself for it.

Whew...that last one was kind of heavy so here is a bonus...

11. If you follow me on social media, you may already know this but...I'm addicted to stationary and office supplies. Nothing makes me happier than a new pack of pens and a pretty notebook. Haha!
